Reminder:  New Saturday Schedule kicks in today; sessions at 9:00AM, 10:00AM, 11:00AM.

Friends – a tremendous amount going on at Metropolis.  Some announcements are in order.  In no particular order:

1)  We have 7 folks running the marathon this weekend!  In case you haven’t been paying attention, we’ll be hosting a mega-marathon party on Sunday.  Food, drink, friends, family.  Muy Bien.  Check out “News/Events” tab for details, courtesy of our Social Chairs, Brooke and Marilina.  Party starts at 12pm.  Make a donation, and or bring food or drink.

2)  The Marathon Party also marks our 2nd Anniversary at Metropolis.  2 years of WODs under our belts.  Awesome.  Sauce.

3)  We’ve added a bunch of new sessions this week.  Be sure to check the Schedule Tab for the latest and greatest.  Expect more sessions as we continue to grow.  Reminder that Saturday will now be 9:00, 10:00 and 11:00AM.

4)  Ok, for the big news.  As many of you know, we’ve been faced with the prospect of having to find a new home for our gym for quite some time.  And I am proud to report that today, after months and months and months of searching, back and forth negotiation, going bald and losing sleep, we’ve finally signed a lease for our next new home.  We will reside at 156 East 100th Street.  Just off the corner of Lex, 4 short blocks from the 96th St. subway stop.  We will be on the ground floor of a single-story building.  Open, column free, industrial space.  Its a great space and perfect for CrossFit!  Our actual move will come sometime in the next 4 – 8 weeks, as I need to have some work done on the space (put in bathrooms, custom pull-up bars, etc. etc.) before we move in.  It will be a good long-term home for us.  Stay tuned for more details; expect a KHour move-fest soon.

5) More news.  We’ve added  a bunch of gear; 10 more rowers, hosts of barbells, power racks, 5 new GHDs.  And we’re adding a new Coach.  Some of you have all ready met Brendan Gilliam, for those of you unfamiliar; Brendan is one of the original CrossFitters.  He trained with Greg Glassman at the original CrossFit box in Santa Cruz CA back in the the mid-2000′s.  Brendan has since opened and successfully operated 2 affiliates in California and Virginia Beach and now is bringing his talents to South Beach, I mean Metropolis.  The details of all of this are evolving as we go, but expect to see Brendan at the gym, providing leadership, experience, high quality training, and becoming a key piece of our growing, thriving community.  Please join me in extending a warm welcome to Brendan.  I think you’ll find his passion and enthusiasm for CrossFit to be infectious.  Entertaining to watch some original CrossFit videos of Brendan and crew at the first CrossFit gym.  HERE.  ANOTHER.  YET ANOTHER.

6)  I’m sure there’s other stuff, but that seems like enough for today!
