U.S. Army First Lieutenant Daren M. Hidalgo, 24, of Waukesha, Wisconsin, assigned to 3rd Squadron, 2nd Stryker Cavalry Regiment, based in Vilseck, Germany, died on February 20, 2011, in Kandahar province, Afghanistan, from wounds suffered when insurgents attacked his unit with an improvised explosive device. Two weeks prior to his death, he was hit by an earlier improvised explosive device. Despite his injuries, he stayed in country and on patrols rather than return home. He is survived by his father Jorge, mother Andrea, brothers Miles and Jared, and sister Carmen.

DNF – really didn’t even start. Got to 5th Ave & turned around. Knee was hurting on the walk to the gym, but I thought it would warm up. That never happened so I limped my way back, sat down then did:

A big 2012 goal of mine is to stay out of PT & not have any more surgeries. 2 knee surgeries in the past 2 years, not looking for another one.
Finally, the best thing I heard so far from our new neighbors as I was walking into the gym: “They look like super heroes in there.” Great job everyone!

Loved the 2 mile run. 15:30, which I was pretty happy about.

Finished the weights and had to scale final 2mi run to 1.5mi home since I had to get back so wife could go to globo class.
